TCRX 3119
This car began life in November 1951 at the Budd Company in Philadelphia, PA, as Pennsylvania Railroad 7140, “Miles Standish.” This car served on the PRR’s Northeast Corridor between New York City and Washington DC, on electrified named trains like the Congressional and the Senator. The car’s ownership passed seamlessly into the Penn Central merger, and later the Amtrak nationalization, who would incorporate the renumbered 7140 (later 3119) into their Heritage Fleet, being rebuilt with Head End Power (HEP) in the early 1980s. Eventually made redundant by newer equipment, 3119 was purchased by TCRM in 1995, and has served dutifully on our excursion trains since.
